Foodie on Foot: Fort Point State Park

A great picnic spot on a perfect day. Check out Aislinn’s One Minute Hike on this wonderful park in Stockton Springs and enjoy the following Foodie on Foot menu.

Late Summer Chicken Salad with Arugula:  Herbed chicken with gala apples, fennel, celery, red peppers and pecans tossed with a creamy, slightly sweet lemon-rosemary dressing.

It was my brother’s birthday so we planned for his wife and him to join Dennis and I for a hike up Great Pond Mountain but, a couple of large thunder storms rolled through and we decided instead to meet at Fort Point State Park, for a picnic lunch; giving us a faster exit to shelter just in case. After walking the trails and enjoying lunch by the lighthouse (extra bonus, it was Open Lighthouse Day), we were not ready for the fun to end so we went for a trip up the Penobscot Narrows Observation Tower and toured around Fort Knox.

None of us had been up the tower, which is surprising, especially for me, since it is part of my daily commute.

What a view!!

My sister-in-law and Dennis had never been to Fort Knox and my brother was last there for his 8th grade field trip, which, was some time ago!  Dennis warmed us up for fright night by jumping out of a passage way by the enlisted men’s quarters and scaring the daylights out of my sister-in-law. He’ll get his on the real fright night!

Thought I saw my brother coming by a doorway but then he came up behind me instead…so, what is this in this picture?????

Get out there and visit your state parks and don’t forget to pack a picnic!
